Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Who doesn't love a television special where a red-nosed reindeer befriends an elf that wants to be a dentist? I never wanted to be a dentist, but as a kid I always looked forward to the "animagic" classic where Rudolph visits the island of misfit toys and attempts to avoid the Abominable Snowmonster.
Here are a few facts that I found online:
- The TV special premiered on NBC December 6th, 1964 and has become the longest running, highest rated television special in history.
- The TV special was filmed in Japan.
- The original script did not have Santa coming back to pick up the misfit toys.

Christmas Tree #4
For those of you who follow my tweets, you know that Mike and I have desperately been searching for Christmas Tree #4 at Target. Today, I set off to visit two store that claim to have the trees in stock, at least that's what Target.com indicated.
My first stop was Super Target off of Alameda in Aurora. The parking lot was jammed packed and so was the store. I went in expected to find the Christmas tree that I had been searching for, but to my disappointment I walked away empty handed. Actually, I shouldn't say empty handed as I did buy a puffy vest off the clearance rack.
Next, it was off to Target Greatland which is also in Aurora, but it's off of Havana next to the scary mall that doesn't appear to have been open in years. The parking lot was crowded, but not like the other Target stores we had been to (this was to be my fourth in two days!) so I was optimistic.
When I approached the section where all the trees were displayed, I was shocked to see THREE of them available. I quickly hosted the tree into my cart and set off to find some additional decorations. Navigating through the store was a bit of a challenge as the tree box extended a foot of two out of my cart. Thankfully I didn't plow anyone down, however I did walk out with two mini trees and a set of hand towels.
After leaving Target, I made a quick stop at TJ Maxx and picked up five new snowmen to add to our collection. I then chatted with Mike and told him that I would be home shortly and that if he wanted to, he could set up the tree.
As it stands now, the tree is up in the family room, but we have not yet added any decorations. It's been a long day (see my blog on our Wii adventures) so maybe we decorate tomorrow.

It doesn't pay to be number 39 and 40 in line!
This morning at approximately 7:15am, we got a tip from Tom and Dale that the Best Buy in our area would be receiving at least 18 Wii's. We quickly got dressed and headed out the door. For those of you who know me, I can't survive without food in my belly especially if I'm expected to stand in line for 2 hours in the freezing cold. So, before heading to Southlands, we drove through the drive-thru at McDonald's so that we could satisfy our hunger and grab some coffee.
By the time we pulled into the parking lot at Southlands Mall, there were already 50+ people in line. Not knowing how many Wiis they had available, we plugged Best Buy into the GPS and headed into Aurora.
Upon arriving there, it was apparent that others in the Denver metro-area were aware of the fact that each Best Buy location would have at least 18 game consoles on hand. After chatting with the folks in front of us, I headed to front of the line to see what I could figure out. We had been in touch with Tom and Dale on and off, so we knew that their location had 60 Wii's on hand and they were numbers 15 and 16 in line. So they were guaranteed two systems, but for us we had to wait until almost 9:45 to find out that our location had 38 to distribute and that we were numbers 39 and 40 in line!
Low and behold it must have been our lucky day as Tom and Dale were able to get FOUR vouchers (they snuck back in at the end of the line!), so we drove up to Westminster and they were nice enough to share their good fortune with us. Even Brandon got a one at the location on Colorado.
Thankfully we are done Christmas shopping for Mike's kids, but we still have other family left to shop for. The good news is that no one else asked for a Wii.

Anyone up for a trip to the derby?
At this derby you don't drink mint juleps and it doesn't take place in Kentucky. Instead it we venutured out to the Bladium Sports Club in an area of Denver known as Stapleton.
Neither Mike nor I knew what to expect as this was our first derby, but after missing our first opportunity to back in September, we thought we should check it out. Plus we heard that they sold buckets of beer.
When we arrived it was packed. I overheard someone in the crowd saying that the tickets were sold out, thankfully that wasn't the case. We were lucky enough to meet up with Ronnie and Jesse in line and once we got in we quickly found Sara and Michael.
Shortly after the event started, Becki, Brent and Lily showed up along with Brandon. Overall a good time was had by all, however next time we need to get there early to get a seat. Plus we should probably try to figure out what the rules of the game are.

On Thursday's I usually look forward to watching Grey's Anatomy, however with the writer's strike still in full force I had to resort to watching Fox and the corny game show "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?".
Here are some sample questions that were presented on tonight's show:
1st Grade Animal Science
True or False - A camels hump is primarily used to hold water.
2nd Grade Geography
True or False - The State of New Mexico borders the Gulf of Mexico
3rd Grade Math
If 15/35 = N/7, then N must be equal to what number?
4th Grade Cultural Studies
Buddhism is a religion which began in what country?
I'm not sure where they find the contestants for this show, but the frat guy who was on tonight said that Buddhism started in China. Surprisingly he went home with $25k. Maybe I should try out for the show...

Living with Karmel
Mike and I have been "catless" for the last four months and I've forgotten how much fun it is to have a furry four legged friend around to entertain you.
Here's a few snap shots of Karmel hanging out with us in the family room.
Karmel doesn't know how to use a computer, but he sure does like Mike's computer bag.

He also likes to lick our windows and drink ice water out of a glass.
